The role

What cruise & hotel DJ roles look like

A disc jockey sets the mood across guest areas: selecting and mixing music for different crowds and events, managing sound (and sometimes lighting), and often acting as an emcee to lift the room. You may perform solo or with other musicians to keep the programme fresh through the contract.

  • Broad repertoire and mixes (often 200+ tracks) across popular styles
  • Comfort with song requests and adapting playlists live
  • Lounge / club DJ experience; gear often provided on ship or at the venue
  • Sets within a guest-facing window; performances split as required
  • Guest interaction; professional presence in passenger areas
  • Fluent English for rehearsals, briefings, and guest contact
  • Your own music library; add tracks when the musical director asks

Contracts vary by employer. Housing, meals, and travel support depend on the venue and offer - confirmed when a brief matches your profile.

Profile

Skills we look for

Equal parts music-mixologist and host: strong knowledge of styles, technical confidence with modern controllers and Pioneer-class gear, and an outgoing personality that works on the mic when the brief needs it.

Bonus: light and sound awareness, team-player mentality, prior overseas or hotel contracts, and comfort collaborating with entertainment and stage teams - the whole venue can be your stage.

How to apply for DJ jobs

Send your promo materials through our online registration. After review, we contact you about openings that fit - cruise ship DJ jobs, hotel residencies, and related entertainment roles - then present your pack to clients when the brief matches.

DJs often sit next to musicians and production profiles in casting. See also solo musicians casting and production technicians if that fits your profile.
