Fire Man - Michael

Citizenship: USA (currently based in USA as well)

Fire tools used: poi (torch poi, steel wool poi, small snake poi, long snake poi), 8 foot fire bullwhip, sword, hula hoop.

Note: I look to turn fire spinning into fire performance. I enjoy connecting with an audience, and not just simply manipulating objects.

Formal teaching: I have instructed other fire spinners at many events and festivals including WildFire (in CT) and BurningMan (in NV). Safety is my number one priority, and I always perform with a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket at the ready (and follow proper fuel dump procedures). I teach the fire tools safety course at the WildFire festivals each year.

Fire spinner in “Four: Spirit of the Elements”

Location: Casino Estoril in Estoril, Portugal (theater capacity ~1100)

Six shows per week.

He was one of the three fire performers in the fire act.

Achievements: Each year, home of poi releases a video called Circles of Light. It is a video collection of spinning artists from all over the world. I have been on five Circles of Light videos (three times in a group act, and twice as a solo act).

In addition to the USA, I have performed in Portugal, Germany and the Dominican Republic.

insurance policy valid in Canada, all 50 states of the USA, and Puerto Rico.
