Keyboardist & Vocalist John R.

The ability to play just about any style has always been one of his strong points.
Somehow, he always gravitate towards situations where he might go from playing Jazz to Funk to Country at any moment. Pianist Vocalist John R. started playing piano at age five and has been performing ever since.
He studied Classical Composition and Orchestration at Shippensburg University, while private tutoring under Jazz pianists Bob Perrini and Steve Rudolf gave his skills the extra swing and jazz sensibility that still informs his playing.
After his formal schooling ended, John began working as a full time professional performer. He played in numerous bands in Pennsylvania and Maryland, as both singer and keyboardist.
He worked for several years in Cruise Control, a professional wedding band, as well as playing solo piano jobs. He toured for a time with his solo jazz rock project, The John R. Band.
Working over two hundred of jobs a year, John traveled literally hundreds of miles every week, up and down the Eastern Seaboard.
Since then, John began finding international work, and has played all over the world, from Anchorage to Barbados. He's worked in showbands for Carnival Cruise Lines, playing vegas-style production shows as well as big band jazz and R&B. He's played as a solo performer, with and without backing tracks. But it's still about versitility, about being ready for whatever the next job requires.
