Lauren
Lauren was born in 1982 Havana, Cuba, into a family of professional musicians. Her father, Juan Munguia, is a renowned latin jazz trumpeter and her mother is a classical singer. Lauren first picked up the flute at 5 years old. By 7 she had been accepted into the National School of Arts in Havana, Cuba. Lauren's musical career begun at 11 when she appeared as a soloist with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. She toured extensively around Cuba with the orchestra. Still in her early teens, she recorded pieces for soundtracks for Cuban movies and an Oscar nominated Television production. By her late teens Lauren's appetite to discover cultures beyond Cuba have taken her to Turkey, Bahrain, China, Hong Kong ,Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Macau, Australia, and Singapore. She has been in Singapore since 2005. During that time she has played in a number of outstanding ensembles and with some extraordinary musicians, including the very famous (and fellow Cuban) "Buena Vista Social Club", the famous latin jazz flautist Nestor Torres, Reshmonu Malaysian Pop singer, and with people like Adlan Cruz, Chucho Valdes amongst many others. Lauren has performed on many occasions in a band hand-picked to perform for the Sultan of Brunei and his family.
