The creators of 'Fine Lines', Vladimir Tatarchuk and Joanna McMenamin, have masterfully blended the arts of acrobatics and dance, to produce original work full of character and style. 'Fine Lines' offers an acrobatic adagio, a tango on silks, and flying silks.
The creation of 'Fine Lines' began in Germany when Joanna and Vlad met while working at the Friedrichstadt Palast in Berlin.
After completing her education majoring in classical ballet and contemporary dance, Joanna danced professionally in Asia and Europe, including the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Vlad's career as an acrobatic base has also taken him around the world, even as a student where as a member of the Ukraine's National Acrobatic Team, he won major international competitions (see resume for details).
Using a combination of Joanna's experience as a dancer, and Vlad's acrobatic technique, 'Fine Lines' has produced three acts. The first, an acrobatic adagio, is unusual as Joanna is nearly 6ft tall (180cm). This romantic dance is all about smooth, organic movement, and the making of beautiful lines.
Astor Piazzola's 'Libertango' provided the inspiration for the 'Fine Lines' tango on silks. The strong focus on style and character makes this act truly unique, a passionate mix of aerial art and dance. The tango requires a minimum height of 5m, and can be performed on a stage as small as 2.5m wide.
The newest addition to the 'Fine Lines' repertoire is an act on flying silks, an ethereal fusion of ballet and flight. New acts on aerial ring, rope, and fire poi are underway, and if that weren't enough, the dynamic duo are also making their first forays into the world of comedy. Watch this space!
